An automotive intercooler is an intake air cooling device for turbocharged engines; it's only found in vehicles equipped with a turbocharger. Its function is to lower the engine's intake air temperature, which not only reduces the engine's thermal load but also increases the intake air volume, significantly improving engine power. Don't underestimate its importance; the exhaust gas temperature from a turbocharged engine is extremely high. If it enters the combustion chamber without cooling, it can easily cause the engine temperature to become too high, leading to knocking and increased exhaust emissions.
An automotive radiator, also known as a heat sink, is a major component in the vehicle's cooling system, used to dissipate excess heat from the (water-cooled) engine. When the system detects that the engine temperature is too high, the water pump circulates water repeatedly to lower the engine temperature, effectively protecting the engine. Conversely, when the temperature is too low, the water circulation stops to prevent the engine from becoming too cold.
